The Seamen Center was organized by a group of churches to provide a ministry to the Seamen away from home on a ship in Wilmington NC Port. There is a Chaplain that visits the ships while they are in the area and has devotions with the Seamen and explains the Plan of Salvation to any that are interested. Also there is a facility that is open during the day if they just want to visit, relax and learn about the area and in some cases the volunteers will invite the Seamen to visit a local church. Transportation is provided to those wishing to go shopping or just visit downtown pointing out the various places of worship. Gift bags are given out which includes miscellaneous items and a Gideon Bible. Bibles are also available free to those wishing to have one throughout the year.  Being a volunteer at the Seamen Center allows them the opportunity to become a World Missionary while living at home. Volunteers are always welcome and needed.
